Reading books and records need to be in class EVERYDAY.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday - However, please have your PE kit in school EVERYDAY
Spelling Tests take place on Fridays
Homework is set on Fridays and is to be handed in by the following Friday. You will be notified it there are any changes to this.
This term our topic is ' The Vikings'. We will be learning about who the Vikings were and what they did. We will be learning about them in a range of subjects including: English, History, Geography and Art.
Have a look at our Viking display. In art the children have made Viking Longboats, shields and designed a dragon's head using shading techniques.
In English we have written poems about a Viking's Journey. If you would like to read your child's then ask for a copy.

Reminders: This year, PE is on Wednesday and Thursday so please make sure you have your PE kit on both days. Homework needs to be handed in on Friday. Remember you can win extra raffle tickets for handing in all of your homework on time! Spellings are given out with the homework and will be tested on the following Friday.
Our topic this term is the study of Dartmoor.
Today was our class assembly, Year 5 all performed well and I am very proud of them. Have a look at our photos from the assembly.
Yesterday, Year 5 were fortunate enough to have a reading morning at Drake Circus Mall. The day consisted of story-telling, making book marks and also making a class bear in Build a Bear. We chose to have a female bear and we called her Roxy. Welcome to Year 5 Roxy.
Today was our Sports Day, I would like to congratulate Yellow Team for coming in 1st place however, I would like to thank all of the children in Year 5 for taking part. It was very hot today and they all coped very well.
Today we were fortunate enough to go on a school trip to Dartmoor. We went on a 3 mile walk and explored different settlements. Have a look at the pictures of our day.
09.06.17 - Reading Picnic
This afternoon Year 5 were fortunate enough to visit Year 2 and read a book to them. The Year 2 children then read a book as well. Have a look at some of our photos.
Over the next few weeks the children are learning about Plant Reproduction. Yesterday Year 5 had the opportunity to grow their own plants using cuttings from a parent plant. Have a look at some of our photos of the afternoon.

This week we have started learning our new map 'Adrenaline Towers'. The children have worked very hard to create actions for the persuasive text. Have a look at some of our photos.
Week Commencing 27.03.17
This week has been enjoyable for Year 5. They have worked with Bruce Robinson a Science Specialist, Plymouth University Students and have gone on an animal visit. With Bruce the children had the experience of making Brush Monsters, they thoroughly enjoyed this. Working with Plymouth University students the children were learning more about their Science topic Materials.
Spring 1: The Vikings
16/03/2017: In DT we have been designing and making our own Viking Long Ships.
01/03/2017: In Art, we have been creating Viking Portraits. Children had a choice of whether to use oil pastels, art pencils or watercolour paints to create their pictures.
09/02/17: Today has been the last day of our Move and Learn Project with Plymouth Argyle. We have been learning about how to keep our bodies healthy and how to play football, handball and dodge ball.
09/02/17: This week has been money week. We have been learning about how much people earn in different jobs, which food and drinks are better value for money and about different currencies.
18.01.17: In RE, we have been learning about different Creation Stories; Christian, Viking and Ancient Egyptian. Today, Miss Clarke's group created their own Creation Story.
06.01.17: This week we have been learning our new class story "Odin's Golden Eye"
05.01.17: Today we had a visitor from Plymouth Argyle who will be delivering the 'Move and Learn' Project to our class over the next 6 weeks. We learnt about why exercise is important, how exercise affects our bodies and football skills.

01.11.16: Today we have started learning our new class text 'Tutankhamun's biography'.
We have been retelling the text using actions and discussing the language used.
Autumn 1 - The Earth and Beyond
05/10/16: Today was 'No Pens' day! We have been working on speaking and listening activities and learning without writing. In maths, we gave instructions to each other to create origami.
In English, we interviewed each other as authors, talking about the adventure stories we had written.
30/09/16: This week some of year 5 and 6 have been lucky enough to go on a residential trip to Bude. The rest of the children have been working on mini-topic on pirates. We have had lots of fun creating treasure maps, designing board games, writing poems and wanted posters and painting our own pirate ships.
09/09/16: In Maths this week, we have been busy reading and writing 6 and 7 digit numbers and learning about the place value of each digit.
14/09/16: This week we have been learning our new class story Milky Way Mayhem and retelling it using actions.
