This week we were really excited to use our new outdoor area. We have a road and a sandpit to explore.
We have being learning "Dough Disco" to help our fingers get ready for writing.
This week we have been continuing our work on Dinosaurs. We have been learning the story, "Dinosaur Rumpus" and using actions to help us tell the story.
We have been been busy finding dinosaur bones and fossils in the sand and looking at their shapes.
We have also been comparing the sizes of dinosaurs and using words such as, "big," "tall" and "short" to describe them.
Well done to all our new children who have settled in really well this week. We are so proud of you. This week we have started our new topic - Dinosaurs. The children are really enjoying this so far!
We are reading "Dinosaur Rumpus" and learning some actions to go with this story.

The children have settled back into Nursery very quickly after the half term holiday - well done!
During this half term we are going to be looking at Halloween, Bonfire night, Remembrance Day, Diwali and finally Christmas.
We will be putting on a traditional nativity play with Foundation and the Rising 3's. This will take place on Monday 17th December in the morning at 9:15 ALL children are welcome to take part in the Nativity even if they don't normally attend on a Monday.
After the performance all children are able to go home with parents. Please let us know if this is not possible and we will try and arrange something else for your children.
The weather is getting colder and wetter however we still intend on using the outdoor environment so please ensure you child has appropriate clothing - Waterproof coat, hat, gloves, wellies and a spare change of clothes available.
We are writing a letter to Santa over the next week - Please could we have a 2nd class stamp to post the letter - you should have recieved a letter about this. - Many thanks.
Term 1 Autumn 2018
The children have settled really well into the Nursery setting and all seem to be enjoying themselves. For the first half term we are going to be working as a big group for our Phonics work - looking at Phase 1 of Letters and Sounds - This involves lots of listening and pre reading and writing skills so is important for all the children to take part. we will be going on a sound walk - listening to lots of different sounds in the environment. After the Half term holiday we will be splitting into smaller groups - some children going up to Foundation and taking part in RWI and some doing the BLAST programme with Ms Weeks.
We are focusing on Autumn and food - where our food comes from and what happens when the season starts changing. We will be making a class scarecrow, toilet roll scarecrows, sun catchers in Autumn colours and lots more. w/c 8th October we will be making current buns- hopefully you will get to see these before the children eat them!
If you are out and about with your children and see any signs of Autumn ie pine cones, acorns, conkers - please collect things for you child to bring in and share with the class. This will improve children's speaking and listening skills.
For the last week of the half term we are looking at the Story - The Enormous Turnip, following the schools success with Talk for Writing we are moving forward with a new scheme called Story Telling' we will be learning the story along with actions with less detail and more emphasis on story structures.
Please do not hesitate to talk to a member of staff if you have any concerns or information you think is important regarding your child.
