At Mount Wise Community Primary School, mathematics is taught using the White Rose scheme as a strong foundation for planning and delivery. This approach ensures consistent coverage of key concepts while promoting a deep understanding of number and problem-solving. In Early Years and Key Stage 1, children also take part in daily Mastering Number sessions to further develop their fluency and confidence with number. Teachers enhance White Rose materials by drawing on a range of additional resources to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Lessons are carefully structured to be well-scaffolded and progressive, allowing children to build confidence step by step. At the same time, opportunities for challenge are embedded to extend thinking and support pupils in applying their skills in a variety of contexts, ensuring all children are both supported and inspired in their mathematical learning.
