At Mount Wise Community Primary School we embrace the fact that every child is different, and therefore, the educational needs of every child are different. We think carefully about the design and layout of our curriculum, resources and environment in order to meet these needs. We aim to create an inspirational and caring learning environment where self–belief is paramount; motivating all to achieve beyond expectation, despite any barriers to learning they may face.
We are an inclusive school and aim to support all children, meeting their individual needs within our school budget. All children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress. For children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), we aim to address any barriers to learning that they may face in a way that has the greatest impact. Our goals are to identify pupils’ needs and then establish and support them to be happy and healthy and achieve their full potential.
In order to support staff, pupils and their families, we have developed the Six Stages of Inclusive Support (in line with the 'assess, plan do review' process – outlined in the graduated approach within the SEND Code of Practice (2015) , and the Local Authority's Graduated Approach to Inclusion. Through this we ensure that we meet the needs of all SEND pupils and this is explained in our School SEND Information Report below
