Despite threatening clouds and forecast rain, the intrepid Mount Wise Junior Ten Tors team were ready for the challenge; fifteen miles, ten tors and two days.
After scaling Legis Tor the team were quickly passing Gutter Tor and reached Ditsworthy Warren House, the iconic setting for the film 'War Horse'.
Eastern Tor, the two Hartor Tors and South Hessary Tor made the route for the first day and the sun came out to join us as we completed the sixth tor.
After pitching their tents, the children cooked their own dinner and took part in a sing song with the other 11 schools on site.
With heavy overnight rain, it looked less promising for the second day. Undaunted, the team packed away and were ready for an 8am start.
After traversing Princetown, the team gained the highest point on the route, North Hessary Tor. All downhill from here, or so we thought!
Hollow Tor was quickly reached and an exploration of Foggintor quarry followed. Then it was on to King's Tor and T shirts were presented, one tor to go!
With cheering parents at the summit, the final climb seemed to never end but then we were there, ten tors completed! An amazing achievement from a fabulous team.
