  Today, the children were treated to guest readers from other classes, who read them a poem or story. This is part of our reading for pleasure focus across the school as we dive deeper into the National Year of Reading. It was lovely to see the enthusiastic listening from all the children. 

  

• Bethany Finnimore Visits Robins, Woodpeckers and Puffins

  Yesterday, the talented local author, Bethany Finnimore, visited Robins, Woodpeckers and Puffins to read her new book, Tank the Toothfairy.  The classes were enthusiastic listeners and loved the story. 

  

• Kestrels Visit Devonport Park

  Today, Kestrels visited Devonport Park as part of the 'Widening Horizons' project. They met with different members of the park team, learning about gardening, indigenous species and the history of the park. As a treat, they also had hot chocolate or a soft drink of their choice. 

  

• Robins Have a Fiery Visitor

  To launch their new fairytale topic, Robins had clawed foot prints left across their classroom and a princess dress left with 'scorch' marks in their role play area.  The class believe that a fierce dragon must have visited over the weekend. 

  

• Festive Fun with Five Gold Rings

  The festive period began with a gold-covered bang as our children performed the brilliant 'Five Gold Rings' to a full house of parents across two afternoons. Every child gave their all and made us all extremely proud. 

  

• Children Become Film Critics

  A group of students were asked to review a brand new film at Market Hall in the immersive dome. Their opinions will shape the final film that will be shown to a range of children from across the city. Due to their excellent engagement, the budding critics were then treated to a special showing of the 'Longest Night'. 

  

• New Library Stock from Plymouth School Library Service

  Today, we put out five boxes of books from the Plymouth School Library Service, replenishing the stock in both the KS1 and KS2 library spaces. The librarians from Puffins were very excited to receive the new books.

  • We will be consulting on our admission arrangements for 2027/2028 through Plymouth City Council.
  • The consultation will be live between Monday 1 December 2025 and Sunday 11 January 2026.

• Kestrels Visit Foot Anstey

  Kestrels visited Foot Anstey solicitors as part of the Widening Horizons project. They learnt all about law, became spies and played a game of I Spy on the rooftop terrace. They also enjoyed a delicious corporate lunch!

  

• Poet Visits Magpies and Buzzards

  Today, Rozi Hilton visited Magpies and Buzzards to share her poetry expertise. In a fun-packed session, the children shared ideas and wrote their own poems to kick off 'Young Poets Week'.
