Autumn Term Overview

In Early Years we focus on the three prime areas; Communication and Language, Personal Social and Emotional Development and Physical Development. Each week we also create opportunities linked to the other four areas of learning and development; Literacy, Maths, Expressive Art and Design, and Understanding the World. All seven areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Each term we go deeply into subjects such as Art, History, Geography and Design and Technology. In the Foundation Class, the children get to experience outdoor learning through Forest School. 

Tools for learning

Pupils use the following tools to help them learn more and remember more.

1. Tiered Vocabulary - pupils use this tool to identify the vocabulary that they will learn and how to organise it into words they use every day, words they use generally and words that are specific to this topic.

2. Graphic Schema - pupils use this tool to help them make links in learning.
